They say New Orleans is where you go to “laissez les bon temps rouler” and the recent weekend we spent at the ILA 2019 Conference was no exception!
Booksource arrived at Booth #227 with one goal in mind: to help showcase that books can take you to some amazing places. In order to accomplish this, we brought several activities along with shelves on shelves of fresh new reads.

Author Signing with Isabel Quintero
We had the honor of hosting Isabel Quintero, author of My Papi Has a Motorcycle, at our booth for a signing and the first 100 attendees took home a free copy of the book!
A celebration of the love between a father and daughter, and of a vibrant immigrant neighborhood, this book tells the story of Daisy Ramona. When she zooms around her neighborhood with her papi on his motorcycle, she sees the people and places she’s always known. She also sees a community that is rapidly changing around her. But as the sun sets purple-blue-gold behind Daisy and her papi, she knows that the love she feels will always be there. With vivid illustrations by Zeke Peña and text bursting with heart, My Papi Has a Motorcycle is a young girl’s love letter to her hardworking dad and to memories of home that we hold close in the midst of change.
You can order your own copy here in English and here in Spanish.
Literary Photo Booth
Through the magic of imagination (and our green screen), we helped ILA attendees visit some of their favorite literary locations including Hogwarts, Oz, Dr. Seuss’ Truffula Trees and more! Digital photos were sent to participants so that they could share their travels on social media with #BookYourJourney.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth! If you missed out, we’ll also be at NCTE’s Conference on English Leadership Convention in Baltimore, MD. Come see where books are taking us November 24-26, 2019!
