It’s Teacher Appreciation Week—a time to honor the devoted teachers in our lives. This week we are highlighting five teachers who were nominated by colleagues for their outstanding contributions and dedication. Each of these teachers will receive $100 in books from Booksource. Thanks to teachers everywhere for all that you do!
Kathy McMillan
Nomination:
Kathy is a veteran teacher who works tirelessly to supplement and improve the instruction of the students she is charged with. Kathy is a master teacher who starts her days (usually by 7:00) working with strugglers and ends her day by working in the Afterschool program (she often does not leave until 6:00 or later). She makes sure students get homework support and extension activities that are different from the regular education programs, yet supports the goals and outcomes that are required in fun, hands on, exploratory manner. Kathy supplements not only classroom materials as she needs to, but she also anonymously ensures that the students in this rural small school have the basic essentials that they need (no muss no fuss). She is the most selfless person I have ever had the personal privilege to know.
